Everyday Moments: Sprinkler Fun

As a kid, there’s no better way to cool off at the end of a long hot summer day than running through the sprinkler.

And then there’s no better way to have a good laugh than to pick a water fight with daddy and chase him around the garden.

Our Annual Bluebell Pilgrimage

A few weeks ago we made our annual pilgrimage to the frolic in the bluebells at Badbury Clump. We’ve visited every Spring now and I think that its beauty and magic just keep getting better each year. And this time we were both even brave enough to have a go on the tree swing.

It’s Springtime! Time to Get Out and Play

Springtime. The days are longer, the sun is warmer, and as the dreariness of winter melts away I feel my spirits lift. And for the first time in months, we enjoyed an afternoon romp around the playground in the sunshine and short sleeves.

I even felt inspired to dust off the big girl camera.

Everyday Moments: My Little Mop Head

After six months of growth, my little man develops a glorious mane of curly blonde locks. It’s shaggy and unkempt, largely due to the fact that I rarely comb it, but it’s carefree and a bit wild, like childhood should be. I imagine an older version of him and that hair catching waves on a sunny California beach.  (Note to self, teach him the word “dude.”)

I’d leave it alone but eventually it gets in his eyes and he wants it cut. I let him decide. I feel like it’s important for him to know that he has choices in life, even about something so mundane. And that I trust his judgement.

And, so just sixty minutes after I captured this, my little man’s shaggy locks were gone. Now he’s older, wiser, and clean-cut. Now I imagine the older version of him in a prep school jacket and tie, surfing the stacks in the library.

Snip. Snip. Sniff.

Everyday Moments: Water

Our Everyday Moments group has taken a bit of a break over the summer as we’ve all enjoyed holiday time with family. We’re back this month with the theme water and I didn’t struggle to find some suitable snaps as we had plenty of summer splash time.

The little man has been in a pool almost weekly since he was about 3 months old and he’s now growing into a confident swimmer. And while on holiday in Cornwall I couldn’t tear the little man away from the pool.
